She woke up early the next day. She was eager to meet Andreas and to get started on the next part of the journey. They met at the train station. At first it felt sort of awkward, they hadn't seen each other for so long. She started to think that maybe it had been a mistake coming but after a while she sort of thawed up a little bit and they tried to catch up on what they had been doing since they last saw each other. A few hours in to the train ride they were almost back to how they used to be in Cologne. Walking up to the restaurant cart to buy a cup of coffee she noticed a red handbag in one of the trashcans, and wondered why anyone would want to throw that away, it looked perfectly fine to her.

Andreas kept talking to her during the entire bus trip to Keel, but she was a bit distracted. She was too caught by the beautiful view through the fogged up window. It was a grey day, and the fog was lingering around the tops of the hills. The swirling mist made the surroundings look surreal, almost magical. They were driving past small white stone houses every now and then and low overgrown stone fences to break up the open landscape. Sheep and cows were gracing peacefully on the green fields. There were old deserted houses with only moss covered stone walls left as evidence of the people who had once lived there. By the side of the road there was a shining white marble statue of the Madonna, holding her hands out as if in a blessing over the land. She wanted to stop the bus every few minutes. There was always a new gorgeous scene she wanted to paint, but that would have to wait until she was settled in the hostel.
