Finally, the guy decided to take the seat next to Steve's. Steve put his backpack on his lap and just watched as this guy tried to find a place for his luggage. Amazing, he thought, how many people traveled with their musical instruments. And he thought he was weird. But here was someone traveling with a drum!

It occurred to Steve that he wasn't going to be able to move let alone type at all if he kept his backpack on his lap. Might as well ask my new neighbor to throw the pack on the rack while he's at it, Steve thought. " 'scuse me?" he yelled, maybe a little too loud. John Gorka was still singing in his ear. "Would you mind putting my pack up on the rack?" The guy didn't mind. Perfect!

"Click" - Steve changed the tape in his walkman, then leaned forward to try to finish his story on the computer. Then another noise: The tape case on his lap had slid to the floor. His neighbor, still not in his seat, picked it up and gave it back to him. "I have the same tape," he remarked. "Oh, really?" Steve answered. "So you like him, too?"
