Katharina was sitting in a compartment of the Rhine-Express to Remagen via Bonn.
The execution had been harder than she had thought.
Now, she held her heritage in her hands. It was an old book, which seemed to be a diary and a letter from Ireland addressed to her grandfather, but couldn't be delivered, because he died.
Curious, she opened the envelope.
What a strange thing. She couldn't remember her grandfather talking about a Mister Brian O'Donnell. But her grandfather must have known him. Otherwise he wouldn't have got this letter.
Maybe, she would find out, if she read the diary.
So she opened the book. The
very first page was a letter to her.
She read on and discovered that the book was a kind of autobiography written for her. It described her grandfather's youth. His travelling through the world and his meeting with Brian O'Donnell
She read the letter from Ireland again. There was a meeting on February 5th on Achill Island. Maybe she was able to find out more about her grandfather and Brian O'Donnell if she participates.
When the train pulled in Bonn Central Station, she got out and rushed to the next travel agency.
She wanted to travel the same way her grandfather did. So she booked a train to Brussels and a flight from Brussels to Dublin.
