There she was, he could see her silhouette in the moonlight. She looked perfectly absorbed in what she was doing. What was she actually doing?

"-Karin? Is that you?"

She looked up from the seashells she had been picking. Oh, so he had finally turned up. Even though she was glad to see him she decided that she wouldn't forgive him just yet.

"-Oh, you. So you decided that you wanted to meet me at last?"

"-I...I am sorry...I really am...I just...fell asleep in the afternoon. I know it isn't a convincing excuse... "

"-You're right it isn't! You could at least try to come up with something better."

"-Well, let's see...Right, I got stuck in a mountain ridge while trying to save that sheep...or something?"

She couldn't help laughing at him.

"-Better. So you weren't trying to save that curly haired woman then?"

"-Well, I don't think she needs to be saved. I met her on the train to Brussels. Strangely enough, she knew all about me. Or at least she thought so. A colleague of mine had provided her with lots of information."

"-Ok. I just thought you had forgotten all about me. So what have you been doing today?"

"-I went up to the deserted village. A strange place, you see. But at the same time a very facinating place. Somehow I felt that those farmers who had been living there for centuries are still alive...in some way. And when I fell asleep, I dreamt I was back in those days when the village was still alive."

"-I would like to go there sometime. The landscape here on Achill is so amazing, I can easily understand how you would feel that way. The atmosphere here is somewhat magical. I would really like to be able to capture that on my paintings."

"-Have you started anything new since you arrived on Achill?"

"-Yes, I've been painting all day today. But I'm not so sure about my painting, I feel as if there is something missing..."

"-Well, I'm sure we can find it there."

"-Let's go look......."
