Lily Krause is - well, Lily Krause. The 50 year old lady lives in Kassel because it's kind of inconspicuous, easy to get there and easy to get away. Lily isn't born here. Whenever she is asked for her place of birth she smiles with a sparkle in her brown eyes and says: "Way up north where the trolls live". Luckily Lily can afford to live without working. She used to work in gardening, but with 35 she won some money in the lottery and with 40 an uncle, supposedly from up North where the trolls live, died and she inherited more money. She has time now to look after her own garden in the little house she has bought. But she also plants as many flowers as possible in as many places as possible, especially where you would least expect them. If she isn't involved with plants and flowers she goes to the university to hear readings and seminars she is interested in (like psychology, philosophy and music). Or she goes to see concerts, reads books or tells stories about fairies, trolls and other mystic beings that not very many people in this city care about, except for the children. "Life is a mystery to be lived, not a problem to be solved", she likes to say. Lately she tells everybody, no matter if they want to hear it or not: "Hey, it's a beautiful day, don't let it get away." It's a line out of a song of a band called U2. One of Lilys favorite bands, together with Pearl Jam. Since she has loved music for quite a while she has lots of favorite bands. You may think that Lily is a bit old for this, but Lily will just smile about this and declare it to be your problem.

There is something Lily doesn't talk about very often. In fact, only two or three of her closest friends know. She had met an Irish painter with the name of Brian o'Donell at the documenta, the big art fair in Kassel. He had seen her and walked straight up: "Hm, keep still please and let me see your eyes." Lily was amazed,as you may have guessed. She looked at him. "Yes, it could be you", Brain said. "Sorry", Lily asked, "but what are you talking about?" "You come and have a cup of coffee with me and I tell you. I have to find out more about you anyway." Since Lily was a curious and open minded person and the guy seemed to be trustworthy she had a coffee with him. Not the only one. When Brian left said: "It may take long, but one day you'll get a note. Then you know it will be time to go."

One day a letter arrived. From Achill Island in Ireland, saying something about the paintings of Brian. As soon as she saw it she knew the time to go had finally come.
